Marvin has a genuine appreciation for the critical role forests play in the quality of life within the global ecosystems. Properly managed forests supply a continual source of wood. In fact, forest growth in the U.S. exceeds harvest by over 35% annually. We continue to support sustainable forestry management and are committed to conserving natural resources, including efforts to preserve old growth and ancient rain forests.

This commitment is reflected in our actions:
  • Marvin utilizes primarily pine in the manufacture of wood windows and patio doors, a resource not associated with rainforests.
  • Marvin purchases from reliable raw lumber suppliers with sound forest management practices, which subscribe to the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) promoting good forest stewardship.
  • Marvin is a corporate sponsor and a board member of the Tropical Forest Foundation (TFF), an organization promoting sustainable tropical forest management, and has published a Statement of Values Regarding Tropical Wood Products.
  • Marvin is a Charter Member of the Forest Products Management and Development Institute at the University of Minnesota.
  • Marvin recycles and reuses wood by finger-jointing and edge gluing scrap material to form usable pieces and by utilizing wood shavings to heat its Warroad facility.
  • For nearly a decade, Marvin has actively participated in forest management education programs, including the distribution of more than 4,000 tree seedlings to employees and surrounding communities each year.
  • Marvin supports the WDMA Green Task Force Statement of Beliefs.
